Are you passionate about design, engineering, and the power of education to change lives? Join us at HMP Millsike as a CAD Tutor, where you’ll deliver high-quality, learner-centred training in Computer-Aided Design to small cohorts of motivated learners working towards City & Guilds Level 2 and 3 qualifications.

This is more than just a teaching role — it’s an opportunity to empower individuals through restorative education, helping them build the technical, digital, and employability skills they need to succeed beyond the prison walls.

 What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver engaging CAD instruction with a focus on engineering principles, aligned to City & Guilds standards.
  • Create a restorative learning environment where learners take ownership of their progress and development.
  • Support diverse learning needs through adaptive teaching, personalised learning plans (ILPs), and embedded literacy support.
  • Promote reading for pleasure, especially for those with lower-level literacy skills.
  • Build employability and digital literacy, preparing learners for real-world opportunities.
  • Ensure workshop safety and compliance, maintaining high standards of health, safety, and security.
  • Collaborate with key partners, including CIAG and support teams, to deliver inclusive, effective education.
  • Track progress and maintain records, contributing to parole reports and achievement data.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to Ofsted expectations.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification in CAD or Engineering Design (or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering CAD or engineering training.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Passion for supporting learner development and achievement.
  • Ability to create inclusive, engaging learning environments.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Organised and confident with record-keeping and learner management.

Desirable:

  • Full teaching qualification (Level 5+) or willingness to work towards.
  • Knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
  • Experience working with neurodivergent learners or those with additional needs.
  • Familiarity with applying reasonable adjustments.
  • Strong commitment to literacy and promoting reading.

Why Join Us?

  • Small class sizes (up to 12 learners), allowing for individual support and relationship-building.
  • Supportive team culture with ongoing CPD, training, and reflective practice.
  • A role with real impact — helping learners gain meaningful qualifications, build confidence, and take steps towards a better future.
  • Contribute to a rehabilitative, forward-thinking education programme that values dignity, growth, and second chances.
