Sheffield Forgemasters is an iconic steel production and engineering company. A global leader in the designing, manufacturing and delivering of world-class steel forgings and castings.
It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Based at our 64-acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Digital Architect. This role will involve tactical problem-solving and strategic planning of the digital infrastructure and application architecture. Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate these into digital solutions.
Role Responsibilities
- Define the application architecture requirements.
- Research issues, develop recommendations and actively participate on project teams to develop solutions to business problems.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is developed in support of value realisation.
- Perform business analysis / requirements analysis with the help of business stakeholders.
- In conjunction with the Cyber Security Manager, develop and maintain Digital Security Architecture and associated best practices, principles, standards and procedures.
- Ensure digital solutions are well engineered, operable and maintainable.
About You
The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.
- A Degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Extensive experience in a Digital Architecture role.
- Experienced in creating Architecture roadmaps and operational models that span the Technology, Application and Data layers for complex, high-available systems.
- A strong understanding of the Microsoft Stack and applications.
- Experience in data modelling and advanced SQL techniques.
- Possess an analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex issues and provide clear, actionable solutions.
Days/Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00
