Working arrangements: Full-time, 40 hour a week. Standard working hours between 07.00 – 19.00, Monday to Friday. Some overtime and anti-social working will be required to support projects.


The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is recruiting an AV Technician to join us as at our Liverpool site at The Spine.

Our venue hosts a diverse range of events, from high-profile corporate and medical conferences to luxurious evening events, and we are seeking a AV Technician to join our technical team.

Role Overview:

As an Audio-Visual Technician, you will play a crucial role in the execution of audio-visual elements for various events. This position requires an euthanistic and passionate professional who can not only operate advanced AV equipment but also be customer focused and work as part of a team.

The audio-visual, technical and media services (AVTMS) Technician role is an equally demanding and rewarding role that underpins the whole service delivery strategy for AVTMS within the RCP. 

You will be expected to provide expert technical expertise to support meetings, conference, webinars, and content creation (filming and editing). You will be supporting AV technicians to reaching a high level of competence across a wide range of event technology disciplines. 

You will be encouraged to approach all the tasks assigned to you with a positive, supportive, and collaborative mindset.  

Responsibilities:

  • The successful operation of technical equipment for physical and hybrid conferences and meetings for both internal and external customers.
  • Correctly following operating, storing and fault reporting processes to ensure effective use and longevity of technical equipment and platforms.
  • Contributing ideas that improve what the team does and offers new opportunity for revenue generation.
  • Portraying the RCP as a positive and customer organisation at all times.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably expected and which are commensurate with the level of the post, adhere and comply with the provisions of the RCP’s health and safety policy, undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with the rules and regulations encompassing equal opportunities.
  • Contribute to the work of the Department and wider RCP activities.

Your experience includes:

Essential

  • Working in a customer facing role
  • Experience of the video production, events, or technical arts industries

Desirable

  • Demonstrable knowledge of all AV disciplines (audio, projection, video, IT, lighting)
  • A technical or creative art qualification
  • Working in a similar venue or content production organisation
