Are you passionate about design with a creative mind and a keen eye for detail? This varied role will allow you to develop a wide range of skills whilst working in the third sector.

We’re looking for a Junior Designer to join our small but busy team based between Long Ashton and home, to help produce all of the Hospice’s branded materials allowing us to reach further, raise more and increase the support available for people who need us.

St Peter’s Hospice is a much-loved Bristol charity that supports thousands of patients and their families every year, providing the best possible end of life care and helping people to live their final days with dignity.

About the role:

The role is really varied, and you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of marketing and communications projects to support the fundraising, clinical and retail teams, whilst implementing our brand.

Your role will include:

  • Producing branded materials for use on digital and print channels
  • Working on creative briefs from within the Marketing and Comms team, on behalf of the teams we work with
  • Developing creative concepts and mood boards for review
  • Taking feedback and working through a design development process to land on a chosen route
  • Artworking all assets for campaigns
  • Being a brand guardian and helping colleagues from different teams across the organisation keep their materials up to date and on brand

About the person:

To be successful in this role you will have experience in a similar role or the ability to demonstrate working on a client focused creative brief. You will need to have experience juggling competing demands and deadlines.

You’ll be enthusiastic, a team player, adaptable and have an understanding and empathy for the work of the Hospice. You’ll also need to be flexible and able to work the occasional weekend or evening to support out of hours events.

Key responsibilities:

  • Producing and assisting with great creative content across digital and print, with the ability to be both meticulous and work at speed.
  • Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Designer, the Marketing and Communications team, and other internal clients to support campaign and project needs.
  • Working closely with colleagues, contributing creative ideas throughout the briefing and delivery stages, using kick-off meetings, mock-ups, and mood boards to work through ideas together.
  • Take direction and incorporate feedback from senior creatives and stakeholders to improve design outcomes.
  • Ensure all designs align with brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency across all materials.
  • Prepare artwork for print or digital delivery, ensuring accuracy in file formats, resolutions, and specifications.
  • Organise and maintain digital asset libraries, templates, and design files.
  • Explore different media including photography, graphics, animation and film, to meet the needs of individual briefs.
  • Stay up to date with change and progress within the design and marketing industry and seek opportunities to integrate this into your work.
  • Have a flexible and supportive approach with the ability to deliver large scale well-briefed jobs as well as smaller, short-notice ad-hoc jobs when the business requires.

What we can offer you:

  • Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum (FTE), dependant on experience
  • Working Hours: 22.5 hrs per week (part time)
  • Location: Long Ashton and home based (50:50)
  • Permanent Position

We’ve spent over 40 years helping people die in peace, and with dignity. Combining compassion with clinical expertise, we provide patients with the best possible care at the end of their lives.

We’re here for the people around our patients too – those closest to them. Before, during and after a bereavement, we provide support that’s remembered forever.

We think it’s that unforgettable support that inspires people to give back to St Peter’s. To fundraise for us. Donate. Volunteer. We’re not exaggerating when we say that we couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful supporters. We really can’t thank them enough.

We want to help many more people to die well. And we’re doing this by teaching others. As a centre of educational excellence, we share our skills with other health professionals, helping the NHS and care homes to provide better end-of-life care.

We’re here for all, for free, forever.

Life is busy and we all want to enjoy a healthy work/life balance. That’s why we offer flexible working hours, and if it’s practical for your role, we also offer hybrid working.

You can split your hours between your home and our offices in Brentry and Long Ashton. We think this is a good way to work – it gives you the convenience of working from home and the camaraderie of being with colleagues in the office.

We want our teams to reflect the diversity of our community – and we want everyone to feel that they belong. That’s why we’ve joined ENEI: Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion. This is a UK based, not-for-profit organisation that helps employers build and maintain diverse teams and inclusive cultures. We’re really pleased to have ENEI supporting us on our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion journey.
