As a Catering Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our catering facilities. From preparing and serving food to maintaining hygiene standards and supporting the wider Estates and Facilities team, your contribution will help create a welcoming and efficient dining experience for all.

This role is working Monday-Friday 8am-2pm (30 hours) in term time only (36 weeks per year). The actual salary is  £16,129.54


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and serving food, snacks, and drinks
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and dining areas
  • Providing excellent customer service and responding to queries
  • Supporting food safety and hygiene practices at all times
  • Assisting with baking and food production
  • Reporting customer feedback to the Catering Manager
  • Working flexibly across college sites as needed
  • Supporting students on placement within the catering area

Essential Criteria:

  • A relevant Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • Minimum Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Experience in food preparation, cooking, and service
  • Previous customer service and cash handling experience
  • A friendly, professional manner and smart appearance
  • Good timekeeping and a methodical approach to work
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a catering-related subject
  • Manual handling, health & safety, or first aid training
