Are you passionate about helping individuals rebuild their futures through education and employment?

Do you have the confidence, enthusiasm, and creativity to engage and inspire learners within a prison setting?

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Engagement and Inclusion Coach to join our prison education team in Scotland.

You’ll work across multiple touchpoints—including learner inductions, residential halls, and prison events like careers fairs—using a trauma-informed approach to build trust, understand individual goals, and guide learners towards education and employment opportunities.

About the Role

As an Engagement and Inclusion Coach, you will:

  • Lead engaging learner inductions, ensuring a supportive introduction to prison education and employment pathways.
  • Advocate for education as a tool for rehabilitation and career development, helping learners see how it aligns with prison employment opportunities.
  • Engage learners across different settings, from residential halls to prison events, fostering motivation and participation.
  • Support initial assessments, including BKSB Maths & English, ALN assessments, and the Employability Diagnostic Questionnaire (EDQ).
  • Work closely with Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG), SPS staff, Vocational/Industries teams, and employability partners, including the DWP, to ensure a structured and supportive learner journey.
  • Provide pastoral care, addressing barriers to engagement and supporting emotional and academic growth.
  • Encourage participation in learner forums and lived experience sessions, empowering individuals to share and contribute to their development.
  • Champion restorative practices, helping learners take accountability for their actions and develop constructive behaviours for rehabilitation.

We are looking for:

  • A relevant qualification in coaching, mentoring, or education (or working towards one).
  • Level 2 Maths & English (or Scottish National Level 4 equivalent).
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or teaching – ideally within a prison, rehabilitation, or employability setting.
  • An excellent communicator – with strong relationship-building and collaboration skills and a strong presence with the ability to inspire learners.
  • Able to develop innovative ways to engage learners.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
