Project Overview:

This project aims to manage and develop a dedicated Suai Supply Base, through a Design-Build and Finance contract. The Supervision works of SSB design build contract will provide specialized project management advice and expertise in the development of onshore and offshore works.

 

We are currently seeking an experienced Breakwater Engineer with a minimum of 15 years' post-graduate experience to join our team in the region. The Breakwater Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design validation and construction supervision of breakwater structures. The role includes verifying geotechnical inputs, supervising rock placement, and ensuring compliance with seismic and hydrodynamic criteria.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to Team Lead.
  • Review contractor’s breakwater design against employer requirements.
  • Supervise construction of breakwater structures, including material compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to seismic, wave load and structural safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with dredging, marine and geotechnical teams.
  • Inspect core, filter and armour layers for quality and placement accuracy.
  • Maintaining a culture of continuous improvement across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
  • Perform other such duties as may be reasonably required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Coastal or Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with focus on marine breakwater structures.
  • Lead experience on at least two port/supply base projects with breakwater works > USD 200 million.
  • Understanding of seismic design (e.g., Eurocode 8, ASCE 7) and marine loads.
  • Strong inspection and verification skills.
  • Familiarity with probabilistic hazard design or numerical modelling tools.
  • Experience in tropical/coastal environments desirable.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and computer skills. 
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
