About the Role

As our Technical Compliance Lead, you’ll serve as the subject matter expert on all aspects of property-related compliance across the McCarthy Stone estate. Working closely with Property Operations, Operations Managers, and Property Business Partners, you’ll ensure our approach to legal and regulatory compliance remains robust, forward-thinking, and aligned with best practice in property management.

You’ll drive the development and implementation of our compliance programmes, guide internal teams on legislation, and play a key role in ensuring our developments meet—and exceed—legal and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, management, and implementation of an effective technical compliance programme.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across all M&E and building compliance matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and proactively embed new regulatory requirements.
  • Create action plans in response to audits and non-compliance, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Advise senior leadership and cross-functional teams on compliance strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct periodic audits and review company procedures to identify potential risks.
  • Develop and deliver guidance and support to Operations and Property Operations teams.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines technical depth with strategic thinking and strong collaboration skills. You’ll need:

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Deep M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) expertise
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g. CIBSE)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK building compliance legislation
  • Proven commitment to continuous professional development

Skills & Experience

  • Strong communicator able to simplify complex compliance requirements
  • Experience managing compliance in large or nationwide property portfolios
  • Strong organisational and planning capabilities
  • Proficient in compliance audits and control systems
  • Experience in matrix management environments is desirable
