This is a Permanent, Part Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Our strategic plan resolves around creating sustainable, safe and warm places for people to live. We’re now looking for a talented Board Member with a background in Development to provide oversight, insight, foresight and hindsight to our business. You’ll join our Board at an interesting time as we have made some significant governance changes in our journey back to being a G1 organisation, and you’ll help us to succeed.

Our strategic objectives are:

  • Be an excellent landlord

  • Be and excellent employer

  • Build and support viable and vibrant communities

  • Develop and maintain excellent safe places to live

  • Be and environmentally and socially responsible organisation

  • Be financially secure and provide value for money

Ideally, you’ll have had affordable housing experience before, either in a senior role in a housing association or development partner organisation or as a Board member. Just as important as anything else is your ability to process complex information, ask challenging questions, make strategic decisions and be an advocate for our customers, ensuring their voice has influence.

In terms of your time, there are 6 board meetings a year which bdht board members are expected to attend and you will be a member of the finance and investment committee which meets 4 times a year. You may also be invited to sit on other committees.

In addition to this there are 2.5 strategic days a year, board training events and ad hoc working groups and task and finish groups. All meetings are in normal working hours

In addition to the salary, reasonable travel arrangements are reimbursed.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further please contact Graeme Anderson, CEO  Graeme.anderson@bdht.co.uk or Mary Miller, Board Chair, mary.miller@bdht.co.uk

Interview Dates: Fri 5th September 2025

BDHT employs 170 people and is dedicated to providing excellent services to our customers by having excellent staff. We are very much a learning organisation. We have a major commitment to identifying transferable skills within our employees and creating opportunities for individuals to grow.

BDHT is a people based organisation and our people are actively encouraged to 'bring their whole selves to work'. The things that are important to you become important to us too.

We believe in our people, and actively support them based upon three core themes: ‘Look after yourself’, ‘Look after your colleagues’ and ‘Look after the business’.

We are a great employer who pays fairly and has excellent terms and conditions. But above all we absolutely recognise that good performance is linked to happy staff, so we actively encourage fun and expect that it is part of the normal working day.
