Location: Remote - Occasional meetings in Loughborough and CHEC Sites

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic pharmacist  with hospital experience and Medicines Information expertise to oversee and enhance our medicines management strategy. 

 

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead the auditing, monitoring, and ongoing development of the Medicines Information Service across the organisation, in line with local and national guidance and user feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with Heads of Services and the Medical Director to review and update our formulary, ensuring alignment with best practice and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure clinician compliance with the formulary.
  • Drive medicines optimisation by developing robust systems for the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines.
  • Monitor prescriptions for accuracy, legality, and safety—including checks for drug interactions, contraindications, and patient-specific factors.
  • Support and guide clinicians on compliance with legal and clinical standards (e.g. Medicines Act, Mental Health Act, and CHEC policies).
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of cost-effective medicine supply contracts to meet organisational needs.
  • Provide a clinical pharmacy service to designated CHEC hospital sites.
  • Offer expert advice to clinicians on unlicensed medicine use, poorly evidenced therapies, and complex prescribing decisions.
  • Promote evidence-based prescribing through the implementation of clinical guidelines and pharmaceutical care plans.
  • Engage in patient counselling to improve medicine adherence and support lifestyle changes.
  • Facilitate pharmacovigilance by reporting adverse drug reactions via appropriate national schemes.
  • Utilise SystmOne and medicines information resources effectively to support safe and effective clinical pharmacy practice.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Proven experience in Medicines Information
  • Proficient in SystmOne
  • GPhC registered and eligible to work in the UK
