RSK Group is seeking talented and ambitious individuals to join our Environment & Ecology Graduate Programme starting on 17th September 2026 for an 18-month fixed-term basis. Locations include Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Boxworth, Helsby, Chester and Glasgow. 

How is the scheme structured?

During the 18-month programme, you will start with a comprehensive induction, learning about the culture at RSK and gaining an understanding of the businesses within the group.

Following the induction, you will work with two RSK businesses, spending nine months with each business to gain a broad and holistic understanding of the industry. You will get to work alongside a range of industry professionals, giving you the opportunity develop your skills and discover what you are passionate about.

During both rotational placements, you will receive comprehensive technical training, as well as a structured group training programme to develop your soft skills for professional career development. You will be paired with a buddy to support you when you join, and there will be plenty of networking opportunities during your time on the scheme. 

Environment & Ecology

The programme is split across environmental consultancy and environmental solutions service areas, and you will be placed with two RSK businesses which match your degree, skills and relevant experience. There will be placement opportunities for office, field-based, or a mixture of the two depending on the project objectives. Daily activity could include:  

  • Conducting surveys for protected species e.g. Great crested newts, bats and reptiles
  • Desk-based biodiversity and sustainability materiality assessments
  • Analysis and interpretation of tender and project data 
  • Field sampling studies for monitoring pesticides
  • Sustainability audits
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Using mapping software to support client projects
  • Site assessments and planning reviews
  • Water sampling and monitoring
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, community, 3rd parties and landowners
  • Working on small, medium, and large sized consultancy projects, with responsibility for tasks such as depth interviewing, managing surveys, data analysis and reporting
  • Developing client relationships and achieving positive client testimonials for the delivery of high-quality work.

Businesses include: RSK Environment, RSK Biocensus, Nature Positive, ADAS Climate & Sustainability, CEA, Sustainable Agriculture Solutions, SCP Transport planning, Stephenson-Halliday, Fortia Insight.  

Locations typically include: Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Boxworth, Hereford, Chester, Glasgow, London     

Desirable degrees: Environmental Sciences, Biology, Sustainability, Ecology, Geography, Environmental consultancy

Your Career Development Path  
During your placements, you will attend ‘training away days’, developing your transferable skills including essential communication skills, building on your commercial awareness and taking part in career development workshops. Your placement will deliver on-the-job technical-based learning, and you will be guided by your line manager, along with your mentor and support from the early careers team. Throughout the placements, you will be expected to contribute to supporting the business and deliver high-impact results. You will be assessed on your performance and will receive regular feedback. By the end of the scheme, we expect that you will have a clear idea of where you would like to work and, subject to performance, we will support you in finding an internal opportunity within the RSK Group.

  • Relevant degree within environment or ecological studies    
  • Willingness to travel to different locations or to relocate (if necessary)
  • Commitment to our nine guiding principles
  • Passion and enthusiasm with an eagerness to learn new skills

  • Full UK driving license (or taking lessons)

Salary and benefits:
