Governance Officer

Hybrid, London - City

Full time, Contract

Salary: £45,000-48,000 per annum

Your role

As Governance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the CII Group’s governance framework and ensuring high standards of compliance and integrity across the organisation and its subsidiaries. Acting as the prime point of contact for two key committees — Audit & Risk and Education & Learning — you will take full ownership of their management, including agenda planning, chasing papers, and producing accurate minutes.

You will also lead on committee operations, contribute to Board recruitment, and support the delivery of the Annual General Meeting. Alongside this, you’ll provide expert guidance on governance processes, statutory compliance, and regulatory requirements, while building strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

To succeed, you’ll bring proven committee management experience and strong organisational skills, complemented by emotional intelligence and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Progress toward a Chartered Governance Institute qualification would be helpful but is not essential — practical experience and a proactive approach are what matter most.

You

  • You are confident in managing committees end-to-end, from setting agendas to producing clear and accurate minutes.
  • You build strong relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You combine organisational skills with emotional intelligence, adapting effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • You take ownership, work independently, and bring a proactive approach to improving processes.
  • You have practical governance experience and an interest in developing your expertise further — progress toward a governance qualification would be an advantage.
  • You are comfortable supporting high-profile governance activities, including Board recruitment
