We are now seeking an experienced Learning and Development Manager to lead our workforce development strategy and help shape a confident, capable and future‑focused organisation.

 

The Role

As Learning and Development Manager, you will take strategic ownership of learning, training and workforce development across Bright Futures. You will ensure that all staff have the skills, knowledge and values needed to deliver safe, high‑quality and person‑centred care and education, while also supporting long‑term retention, engagement and career progression.

 

Working closely with senior leaders, operational managers and HR colleagues, you will promote a strong culture of continuous improvement, lead on workforce planning and succession planning, and ensure learning activity supports both regulatory compliance and organisational growth.

 

Salary: £52,000 plus performance related bonus.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver an inclusive and high‑quality Learning and Development Strategy aligned to organisational priorities and workforce sustainability.
  • Ensure effective onboarding, induction, statutory, mandatory and ongoing professional development across all services and support functions.
  • Maintain oversight of regulatory, contractual and commissioning compliance through accurate training data, reporting and insight.
  • Partner with senior leaders to drive leadership development, workforce planning, succession planning and career pathway design.
  • Line manage and develop the Learning and Development team, ensuring quality, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee apprenticeships, learning campaigns and effective management of the L&D budget.
  • Champion Bright Futures’ People Plan and promote the organisation as a great place to work.

 

About You

We are looking for a confident and inspiring people professional who brings both strategic insight and a practical, hands‑on approach.

You will have:

  • A Level 5 qualification in Learning and Development, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Strong people management experience and the ability to influence, challenge and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of leading learning strategies, leadership development and workforce planning in complex environments.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and coaching skills, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Proven ability to use data, LMS systems and workforce metrics to drive insight and improvement.
  • A values‑driven approach, aligned to dignity, respect, inclusivity and high standards of care and education.
