Join Close Brothers Finance Team within the Asset Finance & Leasing Finance division where you will support the Finance Manager with monthly financial control and reporting deliverables for the Asset Finance & Leasing businesses. You will assist with significant accounting areas for this division and will be required to hone processes and controls to drive efficiencies and improvements through automation using Alteryx and Tableau. This role sits under the Commercial Financial Control stream so you will also be required from time to time to support wider Financial Control tasks, including those within Invoice Finance.

In addition, you will work collaboratively with other members of the finance team including FP&A and Operational Finance to gain a breadth of understanding of operational and commercial factors of the businesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting and reporting

  • Assist and support reporting for Asset Finance & Leasing to ensure that BAU tasks are prepared accurately and to deadlines
  • Preparation of standard and ad-hoc journals
  • Prepare monthly analysis for overheads and other selected financial lines for branches
  • Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies
  • Review invoices and ensure that they are coded correctly
  • Support the corporation tax and PSA processes to ensure the tax team receive accurate information on a timely basis

Other responsibilities

  • Assist the Finance Manager on ad-hoc projects and support the Commercial workstreams to identify best practices and ensure these are implemented across the team
  • Challenge existing processes, identify and implement improvements to achieve better quality and efficiency

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:

  • An independent self-starter with strong attention to detail and high accuracy
  • Confident with strong communication skills and ability to articulate findings to stakeholders in written and oral forms
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrates a positive approach
  • Good baseline IT skills, particularly in Excel, with some experience analysing data and a strong willingness to develop more advanced Excel capability and learn tools such as Alteryx
  • A good track record of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Has an interest in finance and accountancy, with enthusiasm to learn and develop within a professional finance environment

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Previous experience working in financial services. If no previous industry experience, then must demonstrate a strong desire to learn
  • Worked effectively within a large, multi-site and complex business
  • Experience of Alteryx
  • Experience of SAP (ECC and BI) experience
  • Part qualified ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
