North London Hospice is a registered charity that has been caring for local people since 1984. We are committed to empowering patients with life limiting illnesses, supporting them to achieve the best quality of life possible. As well as our inpatient unit at Woodside Avenue, we work within the wider community including our Outpatient and Wellbeing services; our support to patients in their own homes; our Community Specialist Palliative Care services; and our Patient and Family Support teams, providing emotional and practical support to patients, their families and carers.

The Fundraising Team are a driven and determined team who play a pivotal role in ensuring sustainability of the Hospice now, and in the future.

Role Purpose

To support the Community and Events Manager in growing income from community-based fundraising activities and to develop and deliver our growing portfolio of events. No two days will be alike for the postholder as the role includes creatively marketing opportunities, providing top notch relationship management and detailed events organisation and logistics.

Key Responsibilities

Activity Development and Delivery

• Work with the Community and Events Manager to scope, develop and deliver a portfolio of owned and third-party fundraising events and community fundraising activity.
• Support our community to put on fundraising activity in aid of the hospice- advising on being compliant with relevant legislation, participant recruitment, budgeting and how to maximise fundraising income.
• Maintain accurate records about events, communication and participants on our CRM database- Raiser’s Edge.
• Review and innovate our portfolio of owned fundraising events and activity.

Marketing

• Working with the Community and Events Manager and the Communications Team to create and execute effective marketing plans to recruit participants and supporters at scale.
• Prepare timely and effective briefs to support the communications team to deliver activity marketing plans

Stewardship

• Responsible for delivering excellent multi-channel stewardship for our supporters and volunteers
• Responsible for recruitment and management of volunteers to support with the delivery of community and events activity.
• Responsible with colleagues for building excellent relationships and encouraging and inspiring further support of the hospice. Alswayslooking for opportunities to maximise fundraised income for the hospice, ways to add value and opportunities to cross-sell through the team and the hospice.

Product development

• Participate in team brainstorming sessions to support product development and innovation. 
• Where appropriate, there is potential to lead on new products and activity.

General

• Work collaboratively with Community and Events team to deliver projects and activity on time and to budget.
• Ensure that our events and community fundraising is compliant with the Fundraising Regulator
• Build strong internal relationships across the hospice, including with Retail, Volunteering and other Fundraising teams
• We are a relatively small team and we support each other, so the postholder is expected to step in support other teams as needed.

Person Specification

Experience and Knowledge

• Experience of managing external relationships and building excellent relationships with supporters, ideally with corporate fundraisers – essential
• Experience of managing multiple projects and deadlines – essential
• Intermediate level or above IT skills – essential
• Experience using a CRM / fundraising database – desirable
• Experience of events management – desirable
• Fundraising experience – desirable

• Experience in a health or social care charity or managing volunteers – desirable
