The Vacancy
Stockport Homes Group manages a 12,000 strong housing stock on behalf of Stockport Council. Providing high quality affordable housing is something we are passionate about; but it’s not our only passion, we also provide a huge range of financial, health, employment and environmental services all coming together to help transform the lives of our customers.
Our mission is “One Team, Transforming Lives” …that team is growing, and you could be the newest member of our Customer Finance Team.
Stockport Homes Group has a group structure with three subsidiary companies that build homes; carry out capital works operating on a commercial basis; and bid for and deliver charitable services to improve life chances of vulnerable residents. This is as well as the traditional housing functions you would expect – so lots of variety and learning opportunities.
This is a temporary 18-month apprenticeship, where you will be supported to complete a Housing Management qualification. You will have a key role in supporting the work of the Customer Finance service working in a busy team to provide customer focused income collection. You will undertake ‘on-the-job training’ alongside a team of Recovery Assistants to understand the business and carry out key tasks, which will cover all aspects of income collection:
• Setting up accounts and suitable payment plans;
• Invoicing customers promptly and making initial contact for payments;
• Administrating our Home Contents Insurance offer;
• Taking responsibility for customer contacts resolving a wide range of housing issues professionally.
We are looking for someone who is:
• Organised, proactive and reliable;
• Able to confidently communicate with customers and colleagues;
• Resilient and able to deal with challenging situations;
• Comfortable using IT systems to record and present information;
• Able to demonstrate an aspiration to continue a career in housing following completion of their apprenticeship;
• Motivated to provide an excellent customer focussed service; and
• A team player with the ability to support others with enthusiasm, credibility and a commitment to our mission and values.
If you have what it takes, we’d love to hear from you. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this role in more detail, please contact gina.holmes@stockporthomes.org.
