For over 50 years, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has worked with its members, partners and supporters in pursuit of its vision of healthy, resilient ecosystems across Scotland’s land and seas. We are proud to have the support of over 42,000 members, 1,000 volunteers and 23 Local (volunteer led) Groups.
The Trust successfully champions the cause of wildlife through policy and campaigning work, demonstrates best practice through practical conservation and innovative partnerships, and inspires people to take positive action through its education and engagement activities. It also manages a network of around 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland and is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to drive forward and coordinate delivery of the NLHF Funded Riverwoods: A Blueprint for Riparian Woodland Recovery Project – bringing about transformational change in how we value and manage those habitats that bring us healthy resilient river systems. The role will involve:
• General oversight and day-to-day management of the project
• Line management of project team composed of three full time and two part time colleagues.
• Liaison with Involve and other community engagement partners
• Lead the selection of the priority delivery areas
• Oversee the development of the small grants scheme
The main objectives include:
· Provide strategic direction and leadership to deliver the NLHF Funded Riverwoods: A Blueprint for Riparian Woodland Recovery Project.
· Ensure continued involvement from key expert stakeholders on our Advisory Board and Specialist Groups through regular communication and organising meetings.
· Actively engage with existing and developing river restoration projects to build the evidence base and identify physical examples of what can be achieved.
· Co-ordinate monitoring and evaluation Riverwoods NLHF Project to demonstrate clear impact to funders, policy makers and internal stakeholders
· Lead on the development and delivery of skills-based training provision to communities.
The successful candidate will ideally:
• Be educated to at least HND or degree level from an ecological discipline or with demonstrable ecological experience within a similar role / environment
• Have experience with developing partnerships and working with different key stakeholders
• Have a good understanding of ecological processes and conservation in relation to riparian habitats
• Motivate individuals to act towards achieving a common goal, through direction, inspiration and effective communication
• Demonstrate good leadership to promote positive partnerships and a positive culture
• Coordinate the production of strategic plans and work collaboratively across a wide range contact from an array of geographic locations
• Be familiar with ecological networks and measuring ecological connectivity, especially in Scotland
• Understanding of Scottish policies relating to biodiversity, land use and community empowerment
