With the aim of creating a truly inclusive culture, The Sheffield College has implemented the ‘FREDIE+’ values into our college. Inspired by National Centre for Diversity’s ‘FREDIE’ values, these are designed to improve organisational inclusivity and go hand in hand with the ‘New Behaviours’ to form a core part of our EDI strategy (accessible below)

Your passion for breaking down the barriers to progress will be crucial in creating real change. You’ll work to bring our values to life and create engagement with the new behaviours, ensuring The Sheffield College is a beacon of inclusivity for the Sheffield region.

After your first year in-post, success would mean you have:

  • Become a catalyst for social change within the college. Positively disrupting traditional practice and finding creative new ways to make processes and behaviours increasingly inclusive

  • Supported, trained, and built confidence across the organisation, empowering others in college to challenge behaviours and recognise practical ways in which they can work towards a more equal future

  • Have become a leader and champion of cultural change and EDI development, acting as the go-to expert on EDI matters

Core responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of the college’s FREDIE+ strategy. Informed by internal input, external partners, and broader environmental and societal developments

  • Representing the college on key committees, meetings and events which further the achievement of our EDI strategies, plans and aims

  • Being the champion for FREDIE+ values across the whole organisation

  • Raising awareness of our EDI work both internally and externally

  • Encouraging input from staff at all levels to build a supportive & inclusive culture

  • Providing expert guidance to ensure EDI principles are integrated into strategies, policies, processes, and how we think about continuous improvement

  • Maintaining an in-depth and current knowledge of equality legislation (including the public sector equality duty) and best practices

  • Being an active member of the College’s Leadership Team and working collaboratively to deliver our strategy and objectives

We're open-minded & welcome all applicants who believe they can succeed. Though ideally, you will:

  • Be an inspiring leader with a track record of creating organisational change

  • Have deep knowledge of the wider equality, diversity and inclusion landscape, including legal and professional requirements

  • Possess an in-depth understanding of protected characteristics and have current excellent practice in EDI

  • Have a track record of success in management/leadership roles within the EDI space

  • Can build successful external relationships, including raising awareness and working with groups who represent those with protected characteristics

We also offer outstanding pension, benefits & annual leave packages
