The Vacancy
We are currently recruiting reliable, customer-focused and safety-conscious individuals to join us as drivers of our iconic fleet of Greater Manchester’s trams. You don’t need to have any tram driving experience to apply for this role.

Minimum Requirements
In order to be successful as a Driver for Metrolink there are some minimal requirements that we require you to meet;
- You must be over the age of 21
- You must not have a colour vision deficiency
- You must be able to work irregular and unsociable shift patterns which will include nights, weekends & bank holidays
- You must have a full driving licence with no more than 3 points. Furthermore, you must have at least 3 years’ driving experience with no live driving offences.
- The role can be physically demanding as you are sometimes required to climb around 1.25 metres into the vehicle from ground level, using a small foothold and handles. You must also be able to manually use metal levers to operate points on the tracks.
Your Development
Metrolink is committed to the professional development of all our colleagues.
As a Driver you will be required to undergo an intense training programme for the first eight weeks of your employment. This will include practical assessments, written exams and simulator training.
During the initial eight-week course we need full attendance from our new recruits therefore as part of the recruitment process, we will need to understand if you have any prior commitments before starting in role.
Assessment Process
Following your initial application, you will be invited to complete an online assessment and if you are successful at this stage you will need to be available to attend the following assessment dates;
Stage 1: You will be required to attend a face to face written assessment at our Queens Road Depot on either 15th or 16th November 2022.
Stage 2: If you are successful at Stage 1 of the process you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre at our Queens Road Depot on either the 25th or 28th November 2022.
