Together Dental is a growing group of Dental Practices led by forward thinking, caring dentists with a shared vision to provide outstanding dental care for both NHS and private patients. We are on a strong path of acquisitive and organic growth and now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join our Support Centre in Brentwood, Essex.

Working both at home and in the office, this role will report directly to the Clinical Pay Manager with calculations and payments to self-employed dentists and hygienists each month.  Additionally, to assist the Employee Payroll Manager with processing the 10 monthly payrolls for all practices and the support office. The successful candidate will need detailed knowledge of PAYE, auto enrolment legislation and obligations. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the employee payroll of all practices and support office of Together Dental, currently covering 36 practices across 10 PAYE schemes which will include creating and distributing reports, integrating data from HR/HMRC into Payroll and assisting with pay queries.
  • Assist with the self employed payments for clinicians of all practices and currently covering 36 practices, with draft pay slips circulated 3 days prior to payment and payment as per agreed timetable
  • Reviewing payment data from the Practice management software (Dentally) for accuracy and to resolve queries with Practice managers.
  • Assisting with the logging and resolution of any clinical pay enquiries.
  • Assist with the training of Clinicians and employees to understand their pay statements and to ensure process notes are kept up to date.
  • Assisting with the calculation and arrangement payments in a timely manner of all HMRC, AEO, Pension and other payments.
  • Working closely with HR to ensure full, accurate information is entered into Cascade HR system.
  • Ensure compliance with all payroll related legislation including minimum wage and auto-enrolment.
  • Assisting with the enrolment of employees in the Groups pensions schemes.
  • Maintenance of staff payroll and tax records for circa 700 employees.
  • Maintenance of self employed Clinician HR records for circa 300 clinicians.
  • Assist with Auditors queries for all payroll related Audit queries and questions.
  • Processing new starters / leavers and liaise HR / practices as required to resolve any queries and to obtain missing information.

Skills and Abilities 

  • Knowledge of Cascade preferable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Caragon desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Business Central/ Microsoft Dynamics desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of PAYE and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a proactively diverse and interactive organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office setting, prioritising deadlines over other work.
  • Full knowledge and understanding of GDPR.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
