Do you want to help tackle the nature and climate crises in Wales?

The Wildlife Trusts have a vision of land and seas rich in wildlife and people close to nature. We believe that nature is valuable in its own right and that everyone should have the chance to experience the joy of wildlife and feel a part of nature and understand that we are wholly dependent upon it.

Yet, we are in the middle of a climate and a nature emergency, and the two are inextricably linked. Climate change is driving nature’s decline, and the loss of wildlife and wild places is eroding our ability to reduce our emissions and adapt to change. One cannot be solved without the other.

Our vision for climate change action in Wales is a conservation-conscious Wales, where empowered young people drive behaviour change. We want to educate and empower thousands of young people to make small changes in their lives, resulting in a significant effect on their carbon footprints and those of their communities. We believe the catalyst for change is within the grasp of young people, through increasing both their understanding of our environment’s ability to store greenhouse gases and their ability to use and promote nature- based solutions to protect communities and the natural world alike. Therefore, we are delighted to have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund to help drive this change through on the ground action and engaging campaigns through Stand for Nature Project.

The Campaigns and Communications Officer will use an evidence-based approach and work with young people to develop communications and campaigns which encourage positive behaviour changes and promote the engagement of young people with the decision-making across Wales.

You will be experienced in developing and delivering campaigns to drive behaviour change and have a facilitative and inclusive approach to your work. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent relationship management skills with a wide range of audiences, both internally and externally. Using your experience and creative and analytical skills, you will develop our communications approaches and empower young people to find their voices and be heard. You will be highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Most of all, you will be a great listener and be passionate to make a difference.

As part of the Stand for Nature team across Wales, Wildlife Trusts Wales, and with close links to the Communications and Campaigns teams within The Wildlife Trusts central UK team, you will need to have excellent collaboration and facilitation skills and always strive to bring people together to achieve our goals.
