The Vacancy
RJT Excavations part of the RSK Group have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join our team based in Jedburgh, UK to work on some new and exciting projects.
RJT Excavations (RJT) is at the forefront of specialised plant and equipment, bulk earthworks, groundworks, stabilisation, remediation, contract crushing and other plant-orientated activities. Based in Jedburgh, Scotland, we are active throughout the UK with regional offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Leeds.
Responsibilities of the Site Manager:
Manage labour, plant, materials and equipment on site, ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe and legal manner and in accordance with the project plan.
Ensure the health and safety of all persons on site and that site activities do not cause adverse environmental impact.
Carry out effective Toolbox Talks, briefings and risk assessments to ensure teams are aware of the work requirements and associated risks.
Direct teams in the construction of the works, monitoring the allocation of labour to ensure that the tasks they carry out are within their level of skill and experience and that the correct tools and equipment are always being utilised.
Investigate all relevant site incidents and accidents to a suitable level to ascertain the direct and underlying causes and necessary action to prevent re-occurrences.
Ensure all company vehicle, plant and items of equipment are operated and maintained in accordance with procedures.
Complete all necessary documents and paperwork. Collate employee forms and submit timesheets in a timely manner.
Manage and monitor staff working hours
Manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and suppliers. Including subcontract labour.
Develop and motivate site teams.
Provide programme updates to Contracts Manager.
Notify commercial team of requirement for contractual notifications.
Monitoring and review and performance of site staff, including undertaking performance appraisals and disciplinaries.
Qualifications/Experience required:
Experience in delivering groundworks and civils projects with strong knowledge of drainage, foundations and external hard landscaping.
Experience of leading a team
Experience of planning and organising own workload
Experience of liaising with customers and suppliers
Good verbal and written skills, able to brief teams on RAMS and daily tasks
Knowledge of health and safety legislation
Knowledge of CDM and industry requirements
Awareness of employment legislation and best practice
Computer literacy, MS Office suite
Ability to work in a fast- paced environment.
Ability to identify problems and devise solutions
Ability to meet targets and deadlines
Ability to manage a team or task in accordance with the project plan
Willingness to undertake training and development
Ability to manage customer and supplier relationships
Ability to produce project specific RAMS
Take off materials from drawings and schedule for procurement

How long will we retain your personal information?
If your application is not successful, your personal data will be retained:
I. If you apply directly to RSK through an advertisement or in response to an open vacancy listing, for a period not exceeding 2 years from your application date: or
II. If your application is referred from an Agency engaged to work on a vacancy for RSK, for a period of 6 months from your application date.
Unless you request that your data be retained following the appropriate period, you will be sent an automated email asking if you wish your details to be retained. If you do not respond to the email to confirm you wish to remain active, your candidate account will automatically be deactivated. You can also deactivate your account at any time. At the point of your account being deactivated, your data will be fully anonymised. This is so RSK can retain data for statistical purposes. All personal information will be removed.
We retain your personal information for that period for legal reasons and in order to show that we have conducted the recruitment exercise in a fair and transparent way.
If you are successfulin your application, your recruitment information will be transferred to your personnel file and you will receive our Privacy Notice for Employees, Workers and Contractors which explains how long your personal information will be kept for and the processing activities which will be undertaken in relation to your employment.
Your rights in connection with personal information
