The Vacancy
£28,840 - £35,541 (37 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year)
We’re looking for somebody excited to bring fresh ideas to the table and help us make Sheffield College the first choice for those looking to make an impact in British Engineering!
You’ll be teaching committed engineering students who have already progressed from entry-level courses in a fast-paced & exciting environment, while also engaging with industry-leading development to take your career to the next level.
If you come from industry we have all the resources to fully support your transition into teaching and are looking for people just like you to pass your skills on and unlock opportunities for the next generation of young Engineers.
We have an extremely talented staff force made up of people from multiple disciplines, so applications will be considered from all fields of engineering!
Upskilling is available on specific areas you might not be familiar with or worked with recently.
This role is ideal if you:
Are an Engineering Lecturer or an Engineer who’s looking to start a career in education with a high-level teaching qualification fully funded by us
Would enjoy teaching engineering in a brand new state-of-the-art facility, kitted out by world-renowned engineering company Haas

You will be responsible for:
Delivering hands-on Engineering content to learners at a range of levels
Getting involved with exciting initiatives like student visit programmes, such as the Turing exchange scheme, where level 3 engineering students visit Valencia in 2023!
Liaising with external companies to ensure the programmes are constantly up-to-date and learners get a consistently great experience
Engaging with both academy and cross-college CPD to improve your teaching and learning practices, as well as programmes with industry to ensure your knowledge is up to date
After your first year with us, success would look like:
Have built student skills to a high level in preparation for industry
Enthusiastically engaged with professional development to expand your education skills and further your FE career
You’ve worked closely with external partners to support student progression into positive destinations

Have relevant qualifications & industry experience in Engineering
Be committed to work towards a teaching qualification within 12 months of starting (or already hold)
